During the month of February we had the opportunity to participate in the training course "Sharing European Youth Policies Around Europe", which took place in the beautiful city of Cagliari, on the Italian island of Sardinia, during a truly sunny week. It was an amazing few days during which we learned a lot and met wonderful people.
This training course was organized by the Sardinian association Studenti per la Città, and the two Spanish participants were sent by the youth association of Burgos: Brisa Intercultural. We were joined by many countries from all over Europe, all with two participants, many of them youth workers. It was great to see the diversity of cultures and perspectives that were present.
During this week, we had many interesting workshops with games and educational activities, and learned a lot about youth policies across Europe. The workshops were very varied and covered topics such as social inclusion, civic participation and non-formal education. It was great to be able to discuss these topics with other young people from all over Europe and see how they are addressed in different countries and contexts.
We also had the opportunity to visit local institutions and meet politicians working in the youth field. We found it very inspiring to see how they are working in Cagliari to improve the quality of life of young people and create opportunities for them. In addition, we had the opportunity to meet other young people in the city who are working on interesting social projects and learn from their experiences.
But it was not all hard work. We also had time to enjoy the beautiful city of Cagliari and its surroundings. We ate lots and lots of pizza and pasta, and ice cream, all delicious. We visited the beach closest to the city and mingled with the locals, who told us interesting things about the food and culture of the region (they even told us about the cheese that is eaten there with live worm larvae!). We also visited some of the city's most important monuments and historical sites, such as St. Mary's Cathedral and the Elephant Tower.
In addition, we happened to be there during carnival, which made the atmosphere in the streets even more lively and festive. We saw many costume parades all over the city, and enjoyed the music and parties almost every day. We also had an intercultural night with all the participating countries in a bar in the center of the city, where we could taste the food of each country and learn more about them. It was a super interesting and enriching experience.
All in all, it was an intense and very rewarding week. We learned a lot, met great people and enjoyed the beauty and culture of Cagliari and its surroundings.
Grazie mille to Brisa Intercultural and Studenti per la Città for making it possible!
